RTX 5070 Ti vs RX 9070 XT: The Best High-End Value GPU
RTX 5070 Ti vs RX 9070 XT compared with 2026 benchmarks, ray tracing, DLSS 4.5 vs FSR 4, power draw and US and India prices. The RX 9070 XT is the value pick.
The RTX 5070 Ti vs RX 9070 XT matchup is the closest fight in graphics cards right now, and the verdict is simple: for most people building a 1440p or entry-4K gaming PC in 2026, the Radeon RX 9070 XT is the one to buy. It delivers almost the same frame rates as the GeForce for roughly $300 less.
The RTX 5070 Ti is the better card in a narrow technical sense. It is a few percent faster, clearly stronger in heavy ray tracing, more efficient, and DLSS is in more games. If those things matter to you and the price gap does not, buy it. I just don’t think a 40% premium is justified for most builds.

Quick Verdict
- Buy the RX 9070 XT if you want the best performance per dollar at 1440p and 4K, mostly play without heavy ray tracing, and would rather spend the savings on a better monitor or CPU.
- Buy the RTX 5070 Ti if you play path traced games, want DLSS 4.5 and Multi Frame Generation in nearly every new release, or also use the card for AI and creative apps that rely on Nvidia’s CUDA software.
RTX 5070 Ti vs RX 9070 XT: Specs and Prices
Both cards carry 16GB of video memory and both ask for a 750 W power supply. The differences are in the memory type, the power connector and, above all, the price. If terms like VRAM and dedicated graphics are new to you, start with our dedicated GPU explainer.

RTX 5070 Ti vs RX 9070 XT Benchmarks: 1440p and 4K Gaming
Three independent test suites from mid-2026 all land in the same place: these two cards are nearly level in standard rendering, with a small GeForce lead that grows a little at 4K.
TechPowerUp (25 games, maximum settings, no upscaling, retested May 2026):
| Resolution | RTX 5070 Ti | RX 9070 XT | Lead |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1080p average | 162.5 FPS | 156.5 FPS | 5070 Ti by 4% |
| 1440p average | 124.8 FPS | 118.6 FPS | 5070 Ti by 5% |
| 4K average | 74.0 FPS | 69.7 FPS | 5070 Ti by 6% |
| 1440p minimum FPS | 104.7 FPS | 99.4 FPS | 5070 Ti by 5% |
Minimum FPS covers the worst moments, which is where stutter comes from. Both cards hold about 100 FPS there at 1440p, so both feel smooth.
Tom’s Hardware (11 rasterized games, June 2026): 116.8 FPS vs 116.5 FPS at 1440p, and 68.6 vs 65.8 at 4K. Rasterization is the standard way of drawing a game, without ray tracing. That is a tie at 1440p.
TechSpot (52 games, May 2026): the RTX 5070 Ti was ahead by about 1.4% at 1440p and 4% at 4K (84 FPS vs 81 FPS).
The averages hide big swings in individual games. In TechSpot’s testing the RX 9070 XT won Final Fantasy XVI by 21% at 1440p, Cities: Skylines II by 17 to 22% and Ghost of Tsushima by up to 14%. The RTX 5070 Ti won Rust by up to 44% at 4K, Red Dead Redemption 2 by 24% at 4K Ultra and Stalker 2 by 9 to 12%. In Cyberpunk 2077 without ray tracing, TechPowerUp measured the two cards at exactly 125.3 FPS each at 1440p.
If you play competitive shooters, TechSpot found the GeForce generally ahead in Fortnite, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch.
Winner: RTX 5070 Ti, but by a margin you would struggle to notice without a frame counter.
Ray Tracing and Path Tracing
Ray tracing models how light bounces around a scene. Path tracing is the heaviest version, where nearly all the lighting is done that way. Nvidia pulls ahead here.
Tom’s Hardware’s eight ray traced tests show the RTX 5070 Ti at 66.2 FPS against 55.5 FPS for the RX 9070 XT at 1440p, a 19% lead, and 36.7 vs 30.1 FPS at 4K. TechPowerUp’s broader ray tracing index shows a smaller 8% gap at 1440p. In Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing on, TechPowerUp recorded 60.6 FPS vs 50.9 FPS at 1440p.
The heaviest workloads make the gap obvious. In Doom: The Dark Ages with path tracing at 1440p, TechSpot saw the RTX 5070 Ti at 31 FPS, which was still 63% faster than the Radeon. In Indiana Jones and the Great Circle with high ray tracing, the GeForce led by 56%.
It is not one-way. In Pragmata, Resident Evil Requiem and Monster Hunter Wilds, TechSpot found the RX 9070 XT tied or ahead with ray tracing enabled. AMD’s RDNA 4 design is far better at this than older Radeons.
There is one more catch. Tom’s Hardware reports that Radeon owners cannot enable path traced effects at all in some recent games, naming Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem.
Winner: RTX 5070 Ti, especially for path tracing.
DLSS 4.5 vs FSR 4: Upscaling and Frame Generation
Upscaling renders at a lower resolution and lets AI rebuild a sharp image, which buys you frames. Frame generation slips AI-made frames between real ones so motion looks smoother.
Nvidia’s side of this is stronger. DLSS 4.5 is available in over 1,000 titles according to Tom’s Hardware, either built in or forced through the Nvidia app, and Multi Frame Generation can now multiply frame rates up to 6x. TechPowerUp’s reviewer says AMD has “pretty much caught up” on image quality with FSR 4, but the list of supported games is short, and AMD’s frame generation is limited to 2x. Tom’s Hardware is less generous and says FSR 4 still trails DLSS 4.5 in image quality.
Whether that matters depends on how you play. If you switch upscaling on in every game and want it to just work, that’s a real point for the GeForce. If you mostly play at native resolution, it isn’t.
Winner: RTX 5070 Ti.
VRAM and 4K Longevity
This round is even, and it is a big reason both cards are easy to recommend over cheaper options. Each has 16GB, which is enough for 4K textures, ray tracing and frame generation together.
The RTX 5070 Ti uses faster GDDR7 memory, and TechSpot notes it has about 40% more memory bandwidth, which helps explain why it scales a little better at 4K. It is a small edge, not a reason to pay more.
Winner: Tie.
Power Draw and PSU Needs
TechPowerUp measured 279 W for the RTX 5070 Ti and 314 W for the RX 9070 XT while gaming. TechSpot puts the Radeon at roughly 20% more power. At idle the positions flip: 21 W for the GeForce and 9 W for the Radeon in TechPowerUp’s testing.
Both manufacturers recommend a 750 W power supply. The practical difference is the plug. AMD’s reference spec uses two ordinary 8-pin connectors that every power supply has. The RTX 5070 Ti uses the newer 16-pin connector, with a two 8-pin adapter in the box.
Winner: RTX 5070 Ti on efficiency under load. The Radeon is easier to drop into an older PC.
RTX 5070 Ti vs RX 9070 XT: Price and Value
On paper this was a $150 gap: $749 against $599. In practice it is double that.
A memory shortage driven by AI demand has pushed GPU prices up through 2026, and Nvidia cards have been hit harder. TechSpot’s late-August tracker found the cheapest in-stock RTX 5070 Ti in the US at about $1,050 and the cheapest RX 9070 XT at about $750. By early September TechSpot was seeing the GeForce above $1,100 and the Radeon at $730 to $750.
Using TechPowerUp’s 1440p averages, that is about $8.40 per frame for the RTX 5070 Ti and $6.30 per frame for the RX 9070 XT. You pay about 40% more money for about 5% more performance.
In India the gap is wider still. TechSpot’s tracker listed the lowest RTX 5070 Ti price at ₹1,38,500 and the lowest RX 9070 XT at ₹78,700 in late August. When I checked MD Computers on 30 September 2026, the RTX 5070 Ti started at ₹1,52,299 and the RX 9070 XT at ₹95,499. That is a difference of more than ₹55,000 for near-identical frame rates.
The two big reviewers split on the RTX 5070 Ti vs RX 9070 XT question. Tom’s Hardware still picks the RTX 5070 Ti as its top high-end card because of DLSS, ray tracing and software reliability. TechSpot says it would choose the Radeon every time at current prices. I side with TechSpot: a 20% premium could be argued, but not 40%.
Winner: RX 9070 XT, decisively.
Which One Should You Buy?
1440p high-refresh gamer: RX 9070 XT. Same experience, much less money.
4K gamer: RX 9070 XT if you play mostly without heavy ray tracing. RTX 5070 Ti if you want ray tracing at 4K with DLSS doing the heavy lifting.
Ray tracing and path tracing fan: RTX 5070 Ti. This is the one area where the extra money buys a visible difference.
Competitive shooter player: RTX 5070 Ti has the edge in the esports titles TechSpot tested, though both cards run these games at very high frame rates.
Creator or local AI user: RTX 5070 Ti. Most AI tools are built for Nvidia’s CUDA software first.
India buyer: RX 9070 XT. The ₹55,000+ saving pays for a good 1440p monitor.
Upgrading an older PC: RX 9070 XT, because standard 8-pin plugs mean you are less likely to need a new power supply.
What to Check Before You Buy
- There is no Nvidia Founders Edition RTX 5070 Ti. Every card is a partner model, so size, cooling and price vary a lot.
- Do not confuse the RX 9070 XT with the RX 9070 or the 12GB RX 9070 GRE. The names are close and the performance is not.
- Check the power connectors on the exact model. Partner cards do not always follow the reference layout.
- Card length. Many versions of both GPUs are over 300 mm long. Measure your case.
- Monitor support. FSR 4 and DLSS both look best at 1440p and above.
- Warranty. Terms differ by brand and country. In India, buy from an authorised retailer with a GST invoice.
