Quick take

RTX 5060 Ti 16GB vs RX 9060 XT 16GB: 2026 benchmarks at 1080p and 1440p, ray tracing, power draw and US and India prices, and why the Radeon wins on value.

The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB vs RX 9060 XT 16GB comparison has a clear answer in September 2026: buy the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB. The GeForce is about 6% faster at 1440p, but it now costs roughly $270 to $320 more in the US. No amount of DLSS makes up for that.

That is a strange thing to write about two cards that launched $80 apart. A memory shortage and heavy demand from people running AI models at home have pushed the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB to around 70 to 80% above its list price. The RX 9060 XT 16GB has gone up too, but far less.

RTX 5060 Ti 16GB vs RX 9060 XT 16GB Benchmarks: 1080p and 1440p

The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is the faster card. The lead is small.

TechPowerUp (25 games, maximum settings, no upscaling, retested May 2026):

ResolutionRTX 5060 Ti 16GBRX 9060 XT 16GBLead
1080p average100.0 FPS95.4 FPS5060 Ti by 5%
1440p average72.6 FPS68.4 FPS5060 Ti by 6%
4K average41.4 FPS38.6 FPS5060 Ti by 7%
1440p minimum FPS62.2 FPS58.5 FPS5060 Ti by 6%

Minimum FPS is the worst-moment frame rate, and it is what you feel as stutter. Both cards stay around 60 FPS there at 1440p with every setting maxed, a good result for this class.

Tom’s Hardware’s June 2026 hierarchy, which uses 11 rasterized games (standard rendering without ray tracing), shows a slightly bigger gap: 73.4 FPS vs 67.3 FPS at 1440p, or 9%.

TechSpot’s launch review of the Radeon had it 6% behind at 1440p. When TechSpot later retested 15 games with upscaling switched on, the GeForce was 9 to 10% ahead, and the margins barely changed between native and upscaled rendering.

Named games from TechPowerUp’s 2026 suite tell the same story. In Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p the two cards are level: 74.6 FPS for the GeForce and 74.0 FPS for the Radeon. In Black Myth: Wukong at 1440p it is 30.1 FPS vs 28.6 FPS, and both need upscaling to be playable.

Winner: RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, by around 5 to 9%.

Ray Tracing Performance

Ray tracing models how light bounces around a scene. It is demanding, and neither card suits the heaviest ray traced games. The GeForce still handles it better.

Tom’s Hardware measured 56.2 FPS vs 45.3 FPS across eight ray traced games at 1080p, a 24% lead for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. TechSpot’s launch testing had the Radeon 20% behind. TechPowerUp’s 2026 index, which includes lighter ray traced titles, shows a smaller 5 to 8% gap.

In Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing at 1080p, TechPowerUp recorded 54.0 FPS for the GeForce and 47.5 FPS for the Radeon. At 1440p both drop to around 30 FPS, so you would be using upscaling on either card.

TechSpot’s view at launch was blunt: in most modern titles neither card delivers an ideal ray tracing experience, and in older games where ray tracing runs well, the two perform about the same.

Winner: RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.

VRAM: Why the 16GB Versions Matter

VRAM is the memory on the card itself, used for textures and lighting data. Both of these GPUs are also sold in 8GB versions under almost the same name, and that is the biggest trap in this part of the market. We go deeper on the subject in VRAM (Video Memory) Explained.

TechPowerUp’s 2026 data shows what happens when the memory runs out. In Black Myth: Wukong at 4K, the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB managed 17.8 FPS while the 8GB version of the same card fell to 7.5 FPS. In Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing at 4K it was 16.1 FPS against 7.6 FPS. Nobody plays at those frame rates, but the pattern is the point: same chip, less than half the performance.

Between the two 16GB cards, this round is level. The GeForce uses newer GDDR7 memory, but in games that has not translated into a meaningful advantage.

Winner: Tie. Just make sure the box says 16GB.

DLSS 4.5 vs FSR 4

Upscaling renders at a lower resolution and lets AI rebuild the picture. At this performance level you’ll lean on it a lot, so quality matters.

TechSpot found that Quality mode upscaling gave both cards roughly a 30% frame rate boost at 1440p. Where they differ is image quality and game support. TechSpot says DLSS 4 generally produces more stable visuals than FSR 4 at 1440p, and that Nvidia has much broader game support, including older titles. Tom’s Hardware counts DLSS in over 1,000 games.

Nvidia also offers Multi Frame Generation, which inserts several AI-generated frames between real ones, up to 6x. AMD’s version tops out at 2x.

Winner: RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.

Power Draw and PSU Needs

TechPowerUp measured 166 W for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and 182 W for the RX 9060 XT 16GB during gaming. TechSpot, measuring the whole system, saw the Radeon pull about 26 to 27 W more. At idle the Radeon is the lower of the two: 6 W against 11 W.

Both are easy cards to power. AMD recommends a 450 W power supply and Nvidia recommends 600 W. Each uses one 8-pin connector on standard models, so an older PC with a decent power supply can usually take either.

Winner: RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, narrowly, on gaming efficiency.

RTX 5060 Ti 16GB vs RX 9060 XT 16GB: Price and Value

This is the section that decides everything.

At launch, RTX 5060 Ti 16GB vs RX 9060 XT 16GB was an $80 question, $429 against $349. TechSpot’s late-August tracker found the cheapest in-stock RTX 5060 Ti 16GB in the US at about $730, which is 70% above MSRP. By late September TechSpot reported Newegg prices starting around $780, a little over 80% above MSRP. The RX 9060 XT 16GB was about $460, or 32% above MSRP. Tom’s Hardware noted that even that is the highest the Radeon has ever been.

Using TechPowerUp’s 1440p averages and TechSpot’s late-August prices, the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB costs about $10.06 per frame. The RX 9060 XT 16GB costs about $6.73 per frame. You pay roughly 59% more money for 6% more performance.

It gets worse for the GeForce when you look one step up. TechSpot’s September 2026 testing pointed out that the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB now costs about the same as a Radeon RX 9070 XT, which it found 62% faster at 1440p across 52 games. Tom’s Hardware calls the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB “hopelessly overpriced” and gave the RX 9060 XT 16GB its Editor’s Choice award.

Why is the GeForce so expensive? TechSpot’s explanation is that 16GB Nvidia cards are being bought up for local AI work, where Nvidia’s CUDA software is the standard, on top of rising memory costs.

In India, TechSpot’s tracker listed the lowest prices at ₹82,000 for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and ₹53,000 for the RX 9060 XT 16GB in late August. On 30 September 2026, PC Studio listed RTX 5060 Ti 16GB cards from ₹95,000 to ₹1,07,900, while RX 9060 XT 16GB cards at PC Studio and MD Computers ran from ₹57,000 to ₹67,000.

Winner: RX 9060 XT 16GB, and it is not close.

Which One Should You Buy?

1080p and 1440p gamer: RX 9060 XT 16GB. You give up a few frames and keep a lot of money.

Student or first-time builder: RX 9060 XT 16GB. The lower price and modest 450 W power requirement suit a budget build.

Ray tracing fan: Neither is ideal. If ray tracing matters, the money an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB costs today buys a much faster RX 9070 or RX 9070 XT.

Local AI hobbyist or creator using CUDA apps: RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. It is the cheapest new Nvidia card with 16GB, which is exactly why its price is so high.

India buyer: RX 9060 XT 16GB. The gap is around ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 for near-identical gaming.

Buyer with RTX 5060 Ti 16GB money to spend: Skip both and look at the RX 9070.

What to Check Before You Buy

  • 8GB vs 16GB. Both cards have 8GB versions with near-identical names. Check the listing title, the box and the model number. TechSpot’s advice when sorting by price is to skip every 8GB model.
  • Model number suffixes. Partner cards often differ only by a few characters between the 8GB and 16GB versions.
  • Power supply. Nvidia asks for 600 W, AMD for 450 W. Any decent unit with one 8-pin PCIe cable will do for standard models.
  • Monitor match. These are 1080p and 1440p cards. Do not buy either for 4K.
  • Warranty and seller. Terms vary by brand and country. In India, buy from an authorised retailer with a GST invoice.
  • Price on the day. These two have moved more than almost any other GPUs in 2026. Recheck before you order.
